What is the difference between a loop and a telecoil?
- With a telecoil, the hearing aid “hears” the magnetic signal from the loop system and then amplifies that signal. Loop systems are also called audio-induction loops, audio-frequency induction loops (AFIL) or hearing loops. A loop system cannot be used by hearing aids without telecoil technology.
Can you hear through a telecoil in Mt mode?
- If you are in an “MT” mode, you should be able to hear through both the microphone and through the loop system. Hearing aid telecoils may be manual or automatic. A manual telecoil system is accessed by pushing a button or switch on the hearing aid or by using a remote to access the telecoil program.
What is T-coil and how does it work?
- When hearing aid users are inside the loop and their t-coil setting is activated, any conversation being broadcast on the facility’s audio system — ie, a church sermon, classroom lecture, or stage performance — is sent directly to the telecoil in their hearing device.
